Lachlan Massey, artistic director
Described by ABC Classic as 'delightful and youthful,' Lachlan Massey is a young Australian conductor, composer, bass-baritone, producer and stage director.
Born in Sydney, Lachlan is the driving force behind Musgrove Opera, a company which he established in 2018 to present contemporary opera for children and families. Their inaugral production, Pinocchio!, had its sell-out premiere at the Zenith Theatre in 2018, prior to embarking on a regional tour. The second, Hansel and Gretel, premiered in 2021 at The Concourse.
Lachlan is a conductor for the Sydney Children's Choir, where he works under Lyn Williams AM and Sam Allchurch to prepare the choirs for concerts, recordings and major national events.
Lachlan was a 2018 Young Ambassador for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and has acted as assistant music director for The Song Company. He has also written for theatre - most recently Twelfth Night: Heads or Tails? (New Theatre / Virginia Plan).
As a singer, recent stage roles include Lindsay in Jandamarra at the Sydney Town Hall and Psyche with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellows.
