Hansel & Gretel
Uplifting, hilarious and deeply moving, join Musgrove Opera as they present the world premiere of Hansel & Gretel.
This brand-new opera in a whirlwind 70-minute format is composed and directed by Lachlan Massey and stars Ines Paxton in the title role of Gretel. Ines returns to Musgrove Opera after her brilliant appearance as the Fairy in Pinocchio!, alongside an incredible ensemble cast.
Come on the journey with Hansel, Gretel and their new friend Nutty Liz, who lives deep in the woods and is said to “keep children hostage with her conversations.” Reimagined for an Australian audience and set in drought-stricken Queensland, this truly is a Hansel & Gretel for a new generation.
Be the first to revel in the drama of stunning new arias and tap along to choruses including House of Lollies and Game On. It’s the perfect first night out (in a while!) for people of all ages.
Alexander Caldwell, Hansel
Ines Paxton, Gretel
Vanessa Agius, Nutty Liz
Aidan O'Donnell, Father
Sophia Chan, cello
Lachlan Massey, composer / director
