Lachlan Massey, artistic director
Lachlan Massey is a young Australian conductor, composer and bass-baritone.
Born in Sydney, Lachlan founded Musgrove Opera in 2018 to present contemporary opera for children and families. He composed & directed Pinocchio! (2018), which had its sell-out premiere at the Zenith Theatre, prior to a regional tour. His second children's opera, an adaptation Hansel & Gretel (2021), premiered at The Concourse Theatre.
The 2022 season will see the launch of a new series of children's productions in the Utzon Room of the Sydney Opera House.
Lachlan is a conductor for the Sydney Children's Choir, where he works under Lyn Williams AM and Sam Allchurch to prepare the choirs for concerts, recordings and major national events.
Lachlan was a 2018 Young Ambassador for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and has acted as assistant music director for The Song Company. He has also composed for theatre - most recently Twelfth Night: Heads or Tails? (New Theatre / Virginia Plan).
As a singer, recent stage roles include Lindsay in Jandamarra at the Sydney Town Hall and Psyche with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellows.
